The SomArt program currently has 2 locations: SomArt @ the Hive (561 Windsor), and SomArt @ the Armory (191 Highland Ave) both in Somerville, MA.

Nested in the heart of Boynton Yards, SomArt @ the Hive is located in the same building as Taza Chocolate. When you arrive at the front door, take the elevator or stairs to the 4th floor. We are in unit 401a very close to the elevator/stairwell near the seating area.

Parking

As Boynton Yards ever evolves, we will update this page as things shift and change. There is a sprinkling of 2 hour parking 8am – 6pm directly in front of the building on Windsor, and on the side where Windsor takes a turn toward Cambridge. Further down Windsor (over the Cambridge line) there are a few other 2 hour spots. Down South street coming from Medford St there are a few 2 hour spots. Earl St has about 2 2 hour spots adjacent to 808 South St on the Earl St. side. There are a few resident parking spots in the area for both Cambridge and Somerville. Please do not park in the Taza spots directly out front as these are reserved for Taza business only. The Handicapped spot is the exception with the appropriate placard/plate.

We do have 1 parking pass for a lot diagonally across from the building in the Boynton Yards Lot. If you would like to use the pass, please text 617-863-2550 to request it. You will have to park in the lot, walk upstairs to the studio to retrieve the pass as well as return the pass when you are done. A lost pass will be a charge of $35 as that is what property management charges us for a lost pass. It’s best to try and find 2-hour spots first and request the pass as a last resort.

During approved events we can get permission for audience/participants to park in that lot after hours. Please check in to request this permission (for artists) – or check in with the event organizer to make sure permission has been granted (for audience).

Public Transit

There are many public transit stops available to access SomArt @ Hive location. Union Square green line T stop is a short walk in addition to many bus routes both along Cambridge St and Union Sq.

SomArt @ the Hive is located on the 4th floor of 561 Windsor Place, Somerville. We are committed to providing an accessible experience for all artists and audiences.

Parking & Entrance

• One dedicated accessible parking space is located adjacent to the entrance.
• Entrance door has an automatic door opener via hand wave gesture.

Elevator Access

• Elevator access is available to the 4th floor.
• Elevator includes braille signage and audible floor indicators.

Entry to SomArt

• Entrance to the unit is through a double door with a single lever handle.
• Secondary door releases via an automatic flushbolt, providing a 5-foot-wide egress.

Inside the Space

• Audience flooring is flush throughout with no ramps or steps.
• Performance area includes a 6-foot-wide ramp on stage right for stage access.
• Stage height is 2″

Recommendations for Your Front of House Staff – For Audience

• Include the above language on your ticketing description
• Include clear signage in the lobby area on the provided sandwich board, as well as in the elevator and hallway (we provide small laminated signage for the space and bathrooms)
• Make sure there is an usher assigned to the studio door with a flashlight to assist with entrance and seating
• Mobility devices (including footwear) are exempt from the no-outside shoe policy
