Transfigured Ground will have its Boston premiere SomArt @ The Hive, 561 Windsor St., Somerville, Ma Friday-Saturday, March 7-8, 2025 at 8pm and premiered in December at Green Space in NYC.
Transfigured Ground explores the relationship between the body and our emotional, physical and spiritual lives. To develop this work dancers to sourced movement from their personal experiences during the Covid pandemic, exploring how the body can feel when dealing with trauma. Transfigured Ground is performed by a cast that includes, lbgt and trans artists.
Transfigured Ground, explores the effects that change can unexpectedly bring into our lives. Life shifts in unexpected ways that make us vulnerable to sudden loss or illness that rapidly forces us to undergo monumental shifts, forcing us to adapt and altering our paths forever. Dancers will create sharp angles and slicing limbs that segue into liquid curves with startlingly ephemeral shifts of weight. The dancers will paint the stage with unison movement that provides collective power amidst individual phrases to convey a united community. Beautifully synchronized group unison phrases break into exciting dynamic solos of athletic power and grace.

Through the use of gestures, projection of energy, breath and muscular effort, the work provides a gateway for the viewer to observe a portrait of the body in transformation. My goal for this piece is for viewers to reflect on their experience of their own physicality with body and mind in alignment as a process of healing from recent events during the Covid pandemic.
