During the 1800s, wealthy Blk families funded and litigated for the abolitionist, anti-slavery, and voting rights movements in the United States. In the Earnest Path of Duty: The Adventures of Lottie Forten (Acts I and II), explores this time in American history through the eyes of Charlotte “Lottie” Forten, a journalist, poet, and teacher, who grew up in such a family and wrote in her journals about significant 19th century historical events and people.
