re: https://www.damvanhuynh.com/\n\nOriginally from Southern Vietnam\, Dam
Van Huynh is a UK based dancer / choreographer / director. As a child ref
ugee\, his family and he fled Vietnam after the war and settled in the USA
where Dam was raised. Dam founded his own company in 2008\, Van Huynh Com
pany – a vibrant\, cutting edge contemporary dance company with a growin
 g national and international reputation.
His work is an implicit and o
ngoing attempt to synthesise the most dynamic and revolutionary facets of
the dual aspects of his Vietnamese heritage and Western influences harmoni
ously informing a personal and creative expression.\n\nThe company was for
med in 2008 as a creative base to support Dam Van Huynh’s work and colla
borations. Located in Hackney – East London\, it is also the creative dr
iving force of Centre 151\, promoting arts\, culture and community inclus
ion.\n\nDeveloping his own methodology of torso division\, Dam has carved
out a unique choreographic voice. Selecting moments of everyday life\, Dam
transfers these elements in his work\, expanding gestures towards new pot
ential imagery. The result is a physically innovative dance creating a sen
se of surrealism\, where the capacities of the human body are explored to
their extremes and infinite details become prominent.\n\nSchedule for the
 week is as follows:\n\nMonday\, March 25 - 10am - 1pm\nTuesday\, March 26
 - 10am - 1pm\nWednesday\, March 27 - 10am - 12pm\n\nYou may sign up for on
e or all workshops. This is a chance for Somerville dance artists to meet
Dam with the prospect of working with him again in the fall for a potentia
 l performance engagement.\n\n[caption id="attachment_1521" align="alignnon
